Applications

Bocce Buddy

Bocce Buddy is my latest foray into the mobile market. It is an iPhone / iPad app used to track Bocce games, teams, players, and statistics. It has a built in website, allowing other devices on the same Wifi connection to keep up to date with game scores. It also allows for data exports to Excel or OpenOffice ready data files, allowing users to analyze and backup their results.

Jonket

Jonket was my graduate project at Wake Forest University. Jonket is a mobile puzzle hunt game. Very similar to a scavenger hunt, players are presented with a clue which eludes to a location. Players then travel to that location with their iPhone to complete the clue. Each hunt, or Jonk as they're called contains between 5 and 10 clues, and can take place across a college campus, major city, or even across the country! The project was created using the Drupal CMS for the website, allowing me to create a full community site without needing to program each component myself. The application itself was created in Obj-C, and should be playable on both iPhone and iPad upon launch. The launch date has unfortunately been post-poned until further notice.

FreeASL

FreeASL was created by a group of graduate students and myself during a high level software engineering course. It is a free sign language lookup application for the iPhone. When a matching phrase is found, it pulls a GIF animation to show the single word sign. If no such sign is found or the phone cannot access the internet, a sign language font can display the word spelled out in single letter signs. The application was launched for free and open source on the iPhone app store in May of 2010.

Nerd Fights

Nerd Fights was a program I created alongside my partner Jeff Vitalis in our game programming class. We took an existing game framework, built a game engine out of it, and then developed this 2D Fighting game to display its capabilities. The engine was built from the ground up to allow those with no programming skills to add their own characters, boards, and ammunition to the game. It was programmed in Java and the code is available to all to extend or learn from.
